Founded As A Tool Shop
Opened in Stuttgart with six toolmakers and three manual mills, building dies for regional powertrain suppliers.
Rea Automotive turns complex automotive tolerances into scalable series production — combining in-house toolmaking, high-tonnage molding, and intelligent automation under one integrated roof.
We started as a tool shop. That origin still governs how we think — every part we ship is only as good as the steel it was formed in.
Rea Automotive was founded in 1994 as a precision die and mold workshop serving regional powertrain suppliers. Rather than outsourcing tooling as the industry consolidated, we deepened it: acquiring HKR in 2006, adding high-tonnage molding, then building automated inspection cells around the presses.
The result is an unusually short line between design intent and a validated production part. Co-engineering, moldflow simulation, tool fabrication, tryout, series molding, and end-of-line verification all happen inside our own walls — which is why our customers come to us with the programs that cannot afford a surprise at launch.
See What We BuildEach step added a capability we previously had to buy in — and removed a handoff where quality used to get lost.
Opened in Stuttgart with six toolmakers and three manual mills, building dies for regional powertrain suppliers.
Brought high-cavitation mold design and EDM in-house, creating the specialist division that still carries the HKR name.
Commissioned high-tonnage presses paired with robotic take-out, in-mold labelling, and closed-loop cavity pressure control.
Dedicated cell for battery module enclosures and high-voltage insulation components, with optical AI inspection at end of line.
Three sites, deliberately specialised — so tooling, series molding, and electrification work never compete for the same floor space.
Tooling, co-engineering, simulation and mold tryout. Home of the HKR Tool Shop.
High-tonnage injection molding, robotic assembly cells and end-of-line verification.
Battery enclosures, busbar carriers and NAFTA-region program support.
Engineering and manufacturing with uncompromising attention to detail, maintaining repeatable micron tolerances at volume.
Deep technical knowledge across tooling, materials science, automated assembly, and engineered systems.
Modern smart-factory technologies, robotic vision inspection, and continuous algorithmic process optimization.
IATF 16949-certified quality systems designed around zero-defect targets, rigorous SPC, and traceable data logging.
Collaborative engagement model from early concept co-engineering, moldflow simulation, and prototyping to series launch.
Quality is a system, not an inspection step. Our management framework is externally audited annually, and every production lot carries a traceable record from resin batch through cavity pressure curve to final dimensional report.
